Yesterday, with rain pouring down and temps hovering in the mid 50s, I decided to take the afternoon and go fishing. Fishing in the rain is always a pleasure. The sound of the drops on the hood of my rain jacket, the fact that no one else ever seems to be out, and the chilly weather all combine to make it a good day. Twenty minutes after I got there, it cleared off and warmed up. Such is life.
This brown was one of about half a dozen that fell to a small streamer. I had brought my 2-wt Orvis Superfine on the assumption there might be some dry fly action. Let me tell you, that rod is not meant for throwing streamers, no matter how small. But it still performed admirably. This trout and a couple others about that size bent the rod down to the cork, but still I managed to get them in.
You know fall is here when you can throw streamers in the middle of the day, in bright sunshine, and have fish constantly chasing them down. I bet I turned 20 fish yesterday. God I love fall.
